That means forming your LLC or corporation in Texas, Florida, Nevada, New York, Arizona or anywhere else works the same way it does in California — you do not need to be in the state, and neither do we. Forming in Nevada or Wyoming to sidestep your home state's taxes usually does not work: if you operate from California, California still expects you to register and pay here. Frequently asked questions
Can you form my business in a state other than California?
Yes. We file in all 50 states. Entity formation is done with a state agency, so it does not matter where you or we are physically located — Texas, Florida, Nevada, New York, Arizona or anywhere else works the same way. If you are outside California the whole thing is handled by phone, text and email.
Which state should I form my business in?
Usually the state you actually operate from. The internet is full of advice about forming in Nevada, Wyoming or Delaware for tax reasons, and for most small businesses it backfires: your home state still requires you to register as a foreign entity and pay its taxes, so you end up with two filings and two annual fees instead of one. Delaware genuinely makes sense for companies raising venture capital. For a contractor, a shop or a consultancy, it usually does not.
Do I need an LLC, or is a DBA enough?
It depends on liability, taxes and who else is involved. A DBA simply lets you operate under a name other than your own — it does not create a separate legal entity or protect your personal assets. An LLC creates a separate entity. In a free consultation we lay out the practical differences and the real annual cost of each so you can decide. For a formal legal or tax opinion, we will tell you to speak with an attorney or CPA.
How much does it cost?
There are two numbers: the government filing fee, which is set by the state, county or federal agency and varies a great deal between states, and our preparation fee. We quote both before you pay anything, and government fees always go directly to the agency. Call (714) 664-0161 for current pricing on your specific filing in your state.
How long does it take?
It depends on the state. Some states turn LLC filings around in a couple of business days; others take weeks, and most offer expedited processing at an additional state fee. A California DBA can often be filed the same week, though California then requires a four-week newspaper publication. We will tell you the current turnaround for your state rather than quoting a number the agency has not committed to.

No. We are a private document preparation and business filing service. We are not a law firm, we do not give legal advice, and we are not a government agency or affiliated with any Secretary of State or the IRS. If your situation needs legal or tax advice, we will say so and recommend you speak with a licensed attorney or CPA.
Can I just file it myself?
Absolutely — every form we prepare is publicly available from the agencies at their published fees, and you are always free to file directly. People hire us because we do it every day, we know which details get filings rejected, and we handle the follow-up so they can go run their business.
